Travelling to Bulgaria
Bansko is located in South Eastern Bulgaria just two hours from the Capital Sophia, the newly developed resort is currently being considered for the winter Olympics 2012 and its popularity with skiiers of all skill levels has made this one of the most popular skiing locations in recent years.

Getting to Bansko
The transfer time from Sofia airport is around 2 hours 15 minutes with a distance of 170 km.

Transfers are 230 euros return, for a minibus that seats 6 persons.
Public Bus
There is a public bus and two private bus operators that service Bansko from Sofia. They all leave from the bus terminal in Ovcha Kupel several times a day. Tickets are 6 leva one way (around £2). By car it will take you about two hours. If you are driving by yourself, you head towards the town of Pernik and then shortly before Pernik turn south towards Kulata (the Greek boarder town).
Travelling by car
After passing Blagoevgrad you have to turn left off the main road towards Simitli and then go east through some smaller mountains about 35 kilometres to Bansko. Its a very straight forward drive. Don't forget to check for snow tyres on the car in winter. Many rental cars will have these fitted as standard.
The Greek coast is less than an hour and a half's drive, the nearest main Greek town is called Kulata. The new high speed motorway makes travelling easy.
